Who is Carl?
Meet Carl Pennella
Hi, I’m Carl Pennella, the owner and founder of Lumberjacks Tree Service LLC. What started as a simple passion for trees has grown into a full-fledged business, serving homeowners all across Hunterdon County and beyond.
I didn’t always know this was where I’d end up. For a long time, I was searching for a place I belonged and a way to turn my skills into something that felt meaningful. After spending hours grinding away at jobs with Amazon and Walmart, I finally realized that if I wanted a future that was my own, I needed to start investing in myself. That’s when I took the plunge into the tree service industry.
It all began on August 4th. A storm had just torn through our area, knocking out power and leaving a trail of chaos. While most people stayed hunkered down, I was out knocking on doors, offering to clear away fallen trees and branches. That experience lit a spark in me, and I knew from that day forward that tree work wasn’t just a way to make a living—it was my calling.
Growing up surrounded by acres of trees, they naturally became a part of who I am. As a kid, I’d spend hours fiddling with chainsaws while other kids my age wouldn’t go near one. Over the years, that early fascination turned into a usable skill set, something I’ve spent over a decade honing and refining.
I think jobs are more than just a paycheck. They give us a sense of identity, purpose, and connection. For me, it’s deeply satisfying to help solve problems for people, whether it’s making their property safer by removing a hazard or just helping improve the look and health of their landscape. Yelling “Timber!” and watching a tree come down isn’t just about cutting wood—it’s the community I work with, the people I work with, being able to showcase our work too, and that feels great at the end of the day.
Looking forward, I have a big goal in mind: I want to grow this business to five trucks before I hit 30. I’m 27 now and running three trucks, so I’m on my way. My aim is to build a brand that stands for reliability, excellence, and total customer satisfaction. Each tree I cut, each stump I grind, each client I help brings me closer to building something lasting and meaningful. I believe that real success comes from helping others, and I’m all in on doing just that.
Thanks for letting me share a bit of my story. I’m looking forward to many more years of doing what I love and bringing my passion for trees to every job I take on.
